If you haven’t seen Wall-E, stop reading this, stop doing whatever you’re doing and see it. If it’s late at night, start planning your excuse to skip work tomorrow and go to the earliest showing of it. Wall-E is that good a movie. Read the rest of this entry »

Penelope was truly a pleasant surprise. I was a little hesitant entering the baron theatre with my 12 year old niece at my side. I thought, ”Man, no one wants to see this movie, it must really suck”. But all I can say now is the people that weren’t filling those seats were truly missing out. Read the rest of this entry »

Live Free or Die Hard is another movie where the star John McLane finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. This time he finds himself facing off against digital terrorists who have unleashed a hell of a bug on US computers forcing everything to go back to zero and making anything important that we rely on electronically worthless.
Luckily for McLane, he’s got his unwilling sidekick Matt Ferrell, played by Justin Long, to help him figure out how to out hack the hackers. Movie sounds good so far right? Click the link for the rest. Read the rest of this entry »

The New York Comic Con 2007 was last week and The Review Zoo was there. We talked to creator of the webcomic turned print Superfrat, Tony DiGerolam.
He was a good guy and inducted me into the SuperFrat Fraternity. I am Brother Beebo, named so after Beebo the Supermonkey. Check out the interview at the link below. Read the rest of this entry »

[thumb:26:l]The continuation of the three other movies, Manhunter (or Red Dragon: The Curse of Hannibal Lector for others), Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal, respectively. The newest feature, Hannibal Rising, is a precursor to the Hannibal Lector we’ve all come to know and love.
This Hannibal starts off during the Nazi reign during World War II in Stalin-run Russia. Nazis come and take over his house once his parents are killed in front of their summer house. After starving for many days, they decide to eat Mischa, Hannibal’s younger sister. Hannibal escapes the house, and grows up in an orphanage, vowing to take revenge on the men who ate his sister.
Thus begins the actual movie, and Hannibal learning Japanese culture and their ancient traditions. Read the rest of this entry »

[thumb:21:l]I wanted to see this movie in the theaters, unlike many, but unfortunately didn’t get to. So now that it’s out on DVD I’ve picked it up and had a chance to watch it.
For one, Cena actually seems a lot more convincing as an action hero than as a wrestler most times in the ring. He plays the plucky, nice guy hero, who when called forth to be the mean unstoppable SOB of the film, pulls it off well. He’s got the clean-cut look, a beautiful wife played by Kelly Carlson, a mastermind bad guy in Robert Patrick and the need for action in his now hum drum dull life.

Occult Crimes Task Force does star Rosario Dawson, but it’s not a film. Not yet at least. It’s a comic book co-created by the star with the starring character, Sophia Ortiz, modeled after her.
Major spoilers and impressions after the jump…

[thumb:8:l]Maybe you didn’t know, but it seems a little known American tradition after Christmas dinner with family and friends, once the presents are open and out of the way, is to go to the movies. So for the last few years a few movies have opened on Christmas Day to capitalize on the family desire to see Something at the Cinema.
This year two opened: Night at the Museum and Black Christmas. A quick Fandango later showed only 9 theaters currently playing Christmas, while Museum was playing in almost 40 in the area, so the family and I decided to hit Museum.
Night at The Museum is not the blockbuster laugh riot that you might expect from Owen Wilson or Ben Stiller. Truthfully, it’s meant to capitalize on X-mas and is exactly what its title reflects: a night out. Read the rest of this entry »

[thumb:7:l]It could be said this movie is another good Denzel one. Can’t remember the category of it for sure but the movie does appear to be a drama from first look, which it is, but as you get into it you realize its also a bit of a science fiction drama, which I’m not sure is a category Mr. Washington has delved into very often. Some spoilers after the link, so be warned, but to summarize quickly, it’s a good movie, but though possibly predictable for people that know these type of movies. Read the rest of this entry »
