The Eight is the newest of the AHR Visions line to launch since last years New York Comic Con. The Eight tells the story of a group of Immortals secretly living amongst mankind, empowered by angelic forces to protect mankind and wage war against dark immortals who seek to be worshipped as Gods not shepherds.
The art and writing is once more done by the creative team of Rashid and Cutri. And once more they do a fantastic job of making the book visually very appealing and dynamic. The first issue is heavy on dialogue and fantastical visuals as we see the backstory of how The Eight gained their abilities and the conflict that stemmed from their creation.
My main criticism that I would like to see addressed would be a little more visual diversity between the characters. A few less or bigger beards, different hair styles. The designs are very good, and the uniforms of The Eight are cool too, but at times I found myself getting confused between which character was which.
So far the AHR Visions book launches have been solid. This books theme of immortals, angels and the modern world seems to be setting up epic stakes. In the first few pages you are lead to believe these immortal beings are now squaring off against an enemy that possess the power to kill them with ease. Definitely sounds fun. Its on sale now and you can get it at PeepGameComix.com
