Bruce Willis = Proving some old guys still have it.
Live Free or Die Hard is another movie where the star John McLane finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. This time he finds himself facing off against digital terrorists who have unleashed a hell of a bug on US computers forcing everything to go back to zero and making anything important that we rely on electronically worthless.
Luckily for McLane, he’s got his unwilling sidekick Matt Ferrell, played by Justin Long, to help him figure out how to out hack the hackers. Movie sounds good so far right? Click the link for the rest.
I don’t remember the other Die Hards, to be perfectly honest; it’s been years since the third and longer still since I watched the first, so I judge this film on its own values.
Live Free or Die Hard is full of action. The first big scene alone is a shoot out which is impressive for how resourceful the characters are, to the small effects like watching the characters frequently reload as their guns run dry of bullets (although one has to wonder how many clips McLane carries on him).
From there each action sequence is made bigger, longer and more elaborate. My favorite probably takes place when Willis is made to fight the talented and agile Maggie Q. It’s even better than the scene hinted at in the trailer of Willis’ character leaping from the top of a F-16, which is still quite a cool scene in its own.
The latest Die Hard is good popcorn fun. It shows Willis can still pull off the tough, crazy action hero role very well and will do quite well in theaters. But in the end, this probably won’t go down as the best Die Hard ever, but has enough moments that will make you say Yippee Ki Yay MoF#$@er even if John McLane can’t say it for you in he movie himself more then once.
