The Marvel Universe has missed you. The Punisher hasn’t really been gone, but for a few years now he has been playing things slightly under the scenes. While there has been no lack of punishing when it comes to mobsters, drug dealers, Russians and even terrorists in their homelands, there’s a certain group that Frank hasn’t much run in with lately. The superheroes and villains that make up the Marvel U. But “Civil War” and the new War Journal plans to change that.The Punisher has always shied away from the super villains, letting the heroes handle them while he handles the street level crime he feels they miss. But now, with the government giving murderers pardons and a license to police the general populace and in essence becoming the new law, Frank is choosing to make the fight against the super villains a part of his mission as well.

The first villain to run afoul of Mr. Castle during a stakeout of a mob boss is the infamous….

STILT MAN!!! Yes, Stilt Man. Newly reformed and an agent of SHIELD since he was drafted. Although, you’d think they would just take away his suit and throw him in jail, it seems anyone with a superpower or special clothes or gadgets is given the choice to work for SHIELD or head to jail. Stilt Man is apparently here to arrest the same criminal that Frank is here to whack. But the idea of Stilt Man being the law doesn’t sit well with Frank and soon enough the police are there cleaning up not just one dead body, but two. One whose fake and real legs have been blown off.

Frank is also able to rearm himself after a run in with “Cape Killers” who are searching for him after his attack. Now Frank has the arms and means to go after the villains that are getting off skot-free for past crimes. SHIELD even brings in one of its former agents to begin tracking and taking Frank down, but I’ll leave that for you to read.

War Journal is a good read. Stilt Man is a lame villain and I’m sure easily defeated by the Power Pack, maybe even the Great Lakes Avengers, but The Punisher is just warming up. I’m looking forward to seeing who’s gonna be next.
